Our trips range from those that are designed for people who have
little or no kayaking experience to several open water trips for the
more experienced and adventurous.
Up the Creek offers a diverse selection of kayak nature tours and
specialty trips to many of coastal Georgia and Florida's most scenic
waterways. Come and explore your world in a fun and unique way!
We can paddle with groups from 2 or 3 people all the way up to
60! All age groups and families are encouraged to try this fun and
unique way to explore your world.
Trips include all kayaks and gear, instruction, guides, any
applicable park fees and transportation (to and from our shop).
Half Day Trips
Okefenokee at Night
Enter into the alligators’ lair. Start out at dusk
and paddle into the darkness. Turn on the headlamps to reflect
glowing red eyes looking back at you. For the adventurous souls!

Lofton Creek A beautiful hard
wood creek in Yulee, Florida located thirty minutes from the shop.
Paddle at your own pace through this canopied and protected waterway
surrounded by towering maple and cypress trees.
See if you can paddle far enough to reach "the Cypress Tree,"
soaring over 150 feet into the sky and worth the paddle itself.
Typically we enjoy two to three hours of paddling on
this easy
year-round trip.

Dark Entry Creek Nine miles of quiet
tidal salt marsh. Paddle with the current through the winding creeks
and the Saint Marys River.
Although we can never predict what Mother Nature will choose to
show us, herons, ibis, wood storks, jumping fish, and the occasional
dolphin are frequent companions on this 2.5 - 3.5 hour trip. $60/person
Cumberland Sound Eight miles of
beautiful open water. Launch in the shadow of Civil War era Fort
Clinch and paddle across Cumberland Sound past Tiger Island's
strange environment of cactus and palm trees up into the Saint Marys
River.
From the beach and through the salt marshes come join us and get
a chance to see dolphins, submarines, herons, and ospreys as we
paddle to our take-out in Saint Marys. $80/person
Roses Bluff Our Roses Bluff two-hour trip is a paddle for all kayak levels. It is a wonderful quick trip
that gives you a good understanding of just how beautiful this area is and the nature that surrounds this coastal area. This trip takes you through the local salt marshes of the St. Mary’s River and bluffs found on the Bells River. We begin the trip in the St. Mary’s River and continue through a small passage in the marsh to the Bells river. If you enjoy birding, you will enjoy this trip and you may even see some dolphins!

Egans Creek
Paddle with the current through the marsh along the
boundaries of Ft. Clinch State Park. Surround yourself in the spartina and explore the marsh
ecosystem up close. Herons, egrets, ibis, wood storks, jumping fish and the occasional dolphin
are frequent companions. Finish up on the beaches overlooking the sound and Cuberland Island.

Sunset Marsh Paddle
A paddle and a sunset combine for the perfect evening. The cooler temperatures and tranquil waters highlight the marsh's uniqueness. Intense red/orange hues pierce the cordgrass, birds singing from their hidden perches surround the kayaks, and the reminders of civilization quickly disappear. We'll put in and paddle with the tide through the winding salt marshes as the sun slowly sets. This is a true chance to see an entirely new side of this lively ecosystem from the quiet of your kayak. Marsh Exploration Tour
Foster your childs’

Curry leads this expedition into the vibrant marsh ecosystem.
Discover and delight as you probe into the cordgrass to uncover its

St. Marys
River:
Head inland towards the river headwaters where the
relaxed pace along the lazy river takes one back in time. Meander
through lowland swamp and forests, stop to swim and rest upon the
white sand beaches along the route. A 5-6 hour trip, includes lunch.

Cumberland Island Plum
Orchard
Six miles to paradise. Come join us as we paddle
from Crooked River State Park through beautiful and lively salt
marshes to the Plum Orchard Mansion on Cumberland Island. Then we'll
walk across a true forest wonderland to miles of empty and
undisturbed beaches. Pack a lunch and enjoy this true gem of the
kayaking world.$100/person
Cumberland Island Beach Creek
A very
different way to experience this special island. We'll launch next
to Fort Clinch and paddle across Cumberland Sound to the southern
tip of Cumberland Island and then into the salt marshes of Beach
Creek landing near the Carnegie estate.
Once on the island you will have time to tour the ruins of the
magnificent Dungeness mansion, see where Robert E. Lee’s dad was
first buried, or just get lazy at the miles of uncrowded beaches.
$100/person includes lunch.
Martins Island Paddle from downtown Fernandina beach through the marshes to a deserted hammock. See the herrons and
egrets in the marshes then enjoy a short hike, relax and eat a lunch/snack, then return to Fernandina.
This trip is a great introduction to sea kayaks.

Okefenokee Swamp
Explore
this legendary swamp and experience abundant wildlife in a world far
beyond
ordinary. Paddle through “the land of the trembling earth”
down the hundred year old narrow Okefenokee Canal and out into the
Mizell Prairie, a watery land of lily pads, alligators and the most
amazing collection of bird life in the Southeast.
After a stop for lunch on a floating platform surrounded by the
other inhabitants of the swamp, we’ll journey back out of the
prairies and back (somewhat reluctantly) to civilization. $100/person includes lunch
All About Alligators
Paddle amongst our mysterious neighbor
and better understand these prehistoric reptiles. Learn about
Alligator behavior and ecology from America’s renowned crocodilian
expert, Dr. Kent Vliet, a crocodilian biologist on the faculty of
the Department of Zoology at the University of Florida. Join us for
this full day kayak trip as we safely navigate the Okefenokee Swamp.

Sea Camp Camping Trip Spend a very special 3 days & 2 nights camping and
experiencing the island's southern beauty. The eight-mile kayak trip
to the live oak forest campsite at Sea Camp is just the beginning
for this wonderful trip. Tour the ruins of the magnificent Dungeness
mansion, explore the maritime forest, or just get lazy at the miles
of uncrowded beaches. Kayaks,
guides, cooks, tents, food and park fees are included. $299/person
Brickhill Bluffs
Camping Trip When you want to leave everyone else behind,
Brickhill provides the privacy and isolation that many people crave
and few achieve. The campsite is situated under large live oaks
spreading into a wide, Spanish Moss covered canopy. With only a deep
well for water, this trip appeals to the minimalist campers who want
to escape the crowds. Campers can enjoy an easy hike to miles of
deserted white beaches, or visit old settlements such as the First
African Baptist Church, known as both the home to ex-slaves as well
as the wedding site of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.
